Marc Lankhorst is Principal Researcher Enterprise Architecture and responsible for Novay's activities on enterprise, business and IT architecture. His expertise and interests ranges from enterprise architecture and business process management to service orientation and model-driven software development.
In the past, he has managed the ArchiMate project, a major cooperation between several partners from government, industry and academia, concerned with modelling, visualisation and analysis of enterprise architectures, which developed the international ArchiMate standard for enterprise architecture description. He has also been responsible for the institute’s group of software engineers. He has also been involved in several e-goverment projects, most notably B-dossier, a project on integrated, demand-driven e-services from government and industry, and Kanalen in Balans ("Channels in Balance") on multichannel management. Currently, he is active in the ArchiVal project on architecture-based portfolio management and the Integrate project on interoperability. Furthermore, he teaches several courses on architecture at universities and other institutes.
Marc serves as programme committee member and organizer of several conferences and workshops. He has written numerous conference and journal publications and is the primary author of the book Enterprise Architecture at Work (currently in its second edition, Springer, 2009), which describes the key results from ArchiMate.
Marc is a board member of the Netherlands Architecture Forum (NAF) member of the ArchiMate Forum of The Open Group , and one of the editors of Via Nova Architectura.
Marc holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Twente (1991) and a PhD from the University of Groningen in the Netherlands (1996).
