On 26 November, the Nederlands Architectuur Forum for the digital world awarded a prize to the ArchiMate team. The award was made at the tenth Landelijk Architectuurcongres ( National Architecture Congress - LAC 2008) in Nieuwegein.
The NAF architecture prize, which was awarded for the first time this year, recognises a special achievement in the architectural field by an individual, team or organisation. This year, the prize goes jointly to the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management and the team which developed ArchiMate, an open method for describing enterprise architecture.
The ArchiMate team represented a broad partnership from business and government (ABN AMRO, ABP, Dutch tax department, Ordina) and science (Radboud Universiteit, CWI, Leiden University), led by the Telematica Instituut.
Recently, ArchiMate has been adopted by The Open Group, a worldwide consortium of companies and knowledge institutions which advocates open standards and integrated information within and between organisations. So a development which began in the Netherlands has grown to become a global standard.
